Pregnancy Journey II: Government Hospital VS Private Hospital

*Ini hanya pendapat peribadi penulis blog*

Masa Hadif dulu, aku delivered kat Hospital Selayang.. Masa tu masih kerja kat Sarawak, amik unpaid leave sebulan awal then balik KL.. Balik KL pun xde rumah nak menginap, menyewa pulak homestay sebulan.. Masa tu x sempat la nak pikir2 hospital mana nak bersalin, mmg nampak Hosp Selayang je..

Bagi aku, kemudahan kat situ mmg superb.. Takda yg kurang pun.. Doktor pakar pun ramai.. Time aku dulu, disebabkan kena induce, jd special case plak, semua pakar yg entertain.. Cuma yang x bestnya mcm biasa la, doktor x boleh nak pilih, pastu lak xde sapa boleh bertunggu tangga melayan kita 24jam..

Masa Hadif dulu, doktor yang menyambut tu doktor lelaki India.. Dia yang menyambut, dia yang menjahit epi, dia lah segalanya.. Malam lepas delivered tu plak, mmg rasa mcm nak pitam.. Menggigil kesejukan sampai takleh nak bangun, even nak bangun tarik selimut kat hujung kaki pun x larat.. Time Hadif merengek, nak bangun tengok pun x larat.. Masa tu terpikir la jugak, kan best kalau ada org boleh temankan.. Huhuhu :(

Utk kali ni, aku dah balik dok KL.. Kewangan pun dah agak stabil, maka mencari alternatif untuk mendapatkan doktor muslimah memang menjadi keutamaan sekarang.. Aku letak benchmark mampu vs tak mampu tu begini.. Semak balik perbelanjaan bulanan..

Tapi ni baru survey2 sendiri, belum buat appointment pun lagi.. Ingatnya next 2 week ada monthly appointment dgn Klinik Hasniah Elani, lepas tu baru nak tukar appointment ke GMC..

Yang kurangnya pulak private ni, 1st isu bayaran yang of course la makan ribu2 berbanding serba percuma kat GH.. Paling sakit kalau tetiba kena emergency ceaser sedangkan kita budget duit utk normal je.. Kedua, utk kes2 kritikal, hospital swasta canggih mana pun selalunya mmg akan hantar ke GH jugak akhirnya..

Utk bakal adik Hadif ni, setakat ni kehamilan aku normal, xde pape yg berisiko tinggi, harap2 kekal maintain sihat walafiat sampai bila2..

By the time dekat2 nak bersalin tu, Allah uji pulak.. Beliau diberhentikan kerja dan mmg agak susah kehidupannya masa tu.. Masa tu beliau nekad utk teruskan jugak hasrat ke swasta dan sanggup gadaikan barang2 kemas semata2 nak menjaga aurat diri.. Subhanallah, tingginya iman ibu ini.. Aku pun belum tentu ikut cara beliau..

Haaa, lagi satu tujuan ke private, aku cadang2nya nak buat birth plan dan diskus beberapa perkara dgn gynea tu nnti termasuk berkenaan delayed cord clamping, delayed vaccine & gentle birth.. Moga Allah permudahkan semuanya, aminnnn :)

ni sedikit pasal delayed cord clamping..

What is delayed cord clamping?
It just simply means cutting the cord slightly later as compared to cutting it immediately when baby's born... The cord, placenta and the baby, is 1 unit... I'll explain why...

Why should it be delayed?
Here is the BIG difference:
Delaying clamping/cutting for a few minutes (best to wait till it stops pulsating)
- Allows baby to receive most or all of it's blood that was in the placenta at birth
- Improves hematologic status (reduces infant anemia at 2 - 6 months)
- Studies like this one have shown that infants who have delayed cord clamping end up with a whopping 32% more blood volume than infants who have immediate cord clamping – without any increased risk of problems.
- Increases the number of circulating red blood cells which carry oxygen. This increases the baby’s capacity to send oxygen around the body.
- Increased levels of iron (equivalent to 1-2 months or iron requirement!)

There has been worries that delayed cord clamping would increase the chances of jaundice but this is not true! Babies are no more likely to become jaundiced by delaying cord clamping and there is no relation to jaundice and the time of the cord being clamped. In the studies, the bilirubin levels were within normal range no matter when the cord was clamped. There was a study that has also shown that delayed cord clamping reduces chances of cerebral palsy!

There are many more benefits of delayed cord clamping but I believe that some of the points that I've mentioned here is already a good enough reason for most parents to decide what is best...

So why isn't it practiced?
Well, I have no answer to this and it is best that this is discussed with your gynae to see if he/she is open to this idea... Though it may be likely that most would want to just end your labour as quickly as possible then to waste time waiting for the cord to stop pulsating...

Summary:
If u decide to cut it immediately, it simply means u've decided that 1/3 of YOUR baby's blood should end up in the freezer instead of inside your baby's body. Hence that is why I said the cord, placenta and the baby is 1 unit... Whatever that's in the placenta, belongs to your baby and it should not end up in the freezer...

I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
liver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic. com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
